On Los Feliz near Wayne

I touch my hand to the smooth dash


of my silver-gray symbol car 

wary of the 3pm crush.


My thoughts shift outside

remark the scene: a falldown


head, elbows, heels—flat to the sidewalk

male, white, wiry-dark hair strands


fire red engine, ambulance

men thumping, defibrillating, shocking.
